Reading books with our students is important, but finding time to indulge in literacy when you’re limited to a 30-60 minute therapy session is hard! Picture books are often a great choice for shorter time frames, but many activities created for them focus on functional skills or skills for younger students. With my 3rd graders and up in mind, I decided to work on creating materials for older students that can accompany picture books.

This unit focuses on 4 areas of instruction: comprehension, vocabulary, grammar/sentence structure, and social skills. It would also be great for students working on the /l/ or /r/ phonemes!
